Thank you so many of the groups that came together to donate items for our families during the holiday season. Items such as food, blankets, toys, scarves were donated for our families. A single mother of three said “we thought we weren’t going to have a Christmas this year because we wanted to save money for a new apartment, but because of UMe Bank and Providence St. Joseph’s Hospital our kids had a Christmas.”


In addition to the in-kind gifts that were donated, gift cards were provided for recent graduated families. Both the Washington family and Linville family are just two of the families who stopped by to say hello and give us an update on how they are doing. However, upon arriving they were presented with gifts that could help them out for the long run. Thanks to Burbank First Presbyterian for there kindness and love.

On October 7th, Family Promise of the Verdugos officially launched their new campaign, Club 365. The goal of the campaign is for supporters to commit to donate a dollar or more a day for the 2015-2016 fiscal year. The over 40 people that were in attendance were provided an update on Family Promise and got to hear about whats on the horizon. A recent family that graduated from Family Promise also came and shared their story with the group. A huge thank you to Porto’s Bakery in Burbank for donating the space and delicious meals and to Cusumano Realty for donating the drinks to our current and potential donors.



In addition, we at Family Promise want to give a massive thank you to Michael Cusumano and the Cusumano Family Foundation for donating $25,000 to Family Promise and for encouraging the crowd at our Club 365 Launch Party to join him with additional support to Family Promise. This donation will allow Family Promise to continue to offer services to situationally homeless families.

National Family Promise Statistics

  • Founded in Summit, NJ, in 1988 Family Promise is national non-profit organization mobilizing communities and existing resources to help homeless families regain their independence.
  • Homeless families now comprise nearly 40% of the homeless population.
  • One out of every 45 American children will experience homelessness this year.
  • Last year, there were 3.5 million homeless people in the United States. Sixty-four percent of U.S. cities turned away homeless families with children because there was a lack of bed space.
  • Family Promise provided shelter and social services to more than 50,000 people last year . . . nearly 60% of them children.
  • Family Promise currently operates 192 Affiliates across 42 states and mobilizes more than 160,000 volunteers and 6,000 congregations across the country.
  • Family Promise is cost-effective. We utilize existing resources and are able to deliver $3 in goods and services for every $1 we receive.
